Thanks for visiting my business site. I am Goran Šaravanja.
I am an economist with almost twenty years’ experience in South East Europe having worked in the public, finance and energy sectors.
Born and educated in Australia and having begun my career at the NSW Treasury in Sydney, Australia, I have closely followed economic, business and political developments in South East Europe over the past two decades.
In Croatia, I have worked in the Ministry of Finance on macroeconomic forecasting as well as in public debt management. Since 2001 I have been in the private sector, first at the Zagreb subsidiary of the then Austrian investment bank Creditanstalt Investment Bank (CA IB) as their regional Senior Economist covering all markets from Slovenia to Albania. From mid-2007 to the end of 2011 I was the Chief Economist of Croatia’s largest bank, Zagrebačka banka and as such a part of UniCredit’s economic analysis team.
Between 2012 and mid-2017 I worked at INA, in the oil and gas industry, as their first ever Chief Economist; in my final two and a half years in INA I was the head of Strategy Development.
As the founder of Imelum, I am putting those twenty years of exposure to policy, finance, energy, and business as well as knowledge and insight into a fascinating region of Europe, into providing independent analysis of economic and other trends.
